WHY HUNTWOOD: GREEN MANUFACTURING
Huntwood is a proud member of the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association’s, *KCMA, distinguished Environmental Stewardship Program, ESP. Air quality, resource management of products and processes and Environmental stewardship are just a few of the requirements met to be in the Environmental Stewardship Program. As leaders in eco-friendly cabinetry, Huntwood carefully manages all materials used in our state-of-the-art finishing process to the certified vendors we purchase from.
Huntwood’s manufacturing facility was designed with a variety of energy-saving features and with the utmost concern for the environment. Huntwood has received awards from the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency (**SCAPCA/SRCAA) for its’ ultra-low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions.
This state-of-the-art finishing system includes a material reclamation system, recycling surplus application materials and minimizing waste. Excess materials produced from the plant process are recycled, with 66 percent of the material being used for future applications. This eco-friendly process significantly reduces the environmental impact and is safer for employees than hazardous water-borne systems.
Huntwood products are engineered to have the smallest impact on the environment. Each cabinet’s exterior components produced contain selectively harvested material from managed forests cared for by companies committed to sustainable resources. Panel materials compliant with Environmentally Preferable Products (***EPP) are used for interior components.
Only the toughest materials and strongest construction are employed in the creation of each Huntwood cabinet. Every cabinet is designed to stand up to decades of daily use and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Huntwood continues to set the standard for durability, and in doing so reduces the burden upon our natural resources.

Every woodworking plant has waste; however at Huntwood we take the waste produced from our milling of every cabinet component and convert it to sawdust. The sawdust is then collected and stored in a managed location until ready to be sold to paper mills, which then uses it to create energy for their operations. With this process and through the careful management of our waste, Huntwood significantly reduces any contribution to landfills, thus enhancing our environment.
* KCMA is a non-profit organization founded in 1955 to represent companies who manufacture kitchen, bath, or other residential cabinets, produce decorative laminates, as well their suppliers. ** SCAPCA/SRCAA is a local agency that administers federal, state, and local air pollution regulations throughout Spokane County. Their mission is to "preserve, enhance and protect the quality of Spokane County's air resources for the benefit of current and future generations."
*** EPPs (Environmentally preferable products) have become the first choice for many purchasers in recent years because they have developed into high performance, competitively priced products and services with the added value of protecting the environment and public health.
